Job Title: Assistant News Director - Atlanta Radio

Position Overview

WSB Radio Atlanta is seeking a strategic, innovative, team-oriented, and passionate journalist to be our Assistant News Director. This opportunity is for a leader who possesses a passion for local news along with the highest standards for producing unbiased and impactful reporting for our audience. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced, hands-on leader, with a vision and mission to serve the needs of our listeners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of short and long-form news coverage
• Work with reporters on stories and serve as a content editor
• Excellent communication, organization, judgement and writing skills
• Ability to anchor live coverage of breaking news and/or special coverage
• Ability to conduct live and/or taped interviews
• Be consistently up to date on local, national and international stories
• Assist news director with hiring and the day‑to‑day management of the news team
• Create a monthly newsroom schedule
• Strong ability to grow people through feedback and performance management and internal training opportunities
• Experience with news software like Newsboss or Burli
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Coordinate with digital team to integrate reporter content to digital and social platforms

Minimum Qualifications

• At least three years of newsroom management experience
• Strong writing and editorial skills
• Bachelor’s Degree required (Journalism, English or Communications preferred)
• Must be willing to work a schedule that includes holidays and non-traditional work hours
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
