Job Description

A private family located in Glen Rock, NJ is seeking a live-out Nanny / Family Assistant to care for their 2.5 year old daughter and provide general assistance to the family. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, conscientious, has strong communication skills and can anticipate needs. You will be responsible for looking after the child, feeding, and engaging her in educational and developmental activities.

The Kids

  • Our daughter is 2.5 years old, fun, easy-going, great eater, solid sleeper. She's in the thick of exploring everything, loves being outside, and is a joy to be around.
  • The family is expecting twins in late 2026. We anticipate needing additional help during the initial months as we all adjust to going from one child to three. We're transparent about this upfront because we want someone who's excited about growing with our family, not surprised by it.

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday - Friday, approximately 45 hours per week.
  • Schedule flexes by season — summer looks different from the school year (half-day preschool, 5 days/week in the fall).
  • Mix of scheduled activities and spontaneous adventures. Every day is a little different.
  • We have an organized nanny group that plans weekly activities / play dates as well
  • Ideal start date: July 2026.

Additional Details

Mom works full-time from home in a demanding role with occasional travel. Dad owns and operates several businesses from home as well. We have a 25 lb mini goldendoodle who is mostly handled by mom and dad, though the occasional help is appreciated.

What You'll Do - Childcare

  • Be the go-to person for our daughter throughout the day, her safety, happiness, and development are the priority.
  • Prepare meals and snacks (lunch daily, snacks, and occasional dinner prep).
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate learning, creative play, and exploration activities.
  • Get outside daily when weather permits, parks, walks, backyard time.
  • Manage naps, transitions, and the general rhythm of her day.
  • Drive to and from activities, playdates, and errands (family car provided).

What You'll Do - Household & Family Assistant

  • Household laundry (wash, fold, put away).
  • General household organization and tidying between professional housekeeping visits.
  • Dishes and kitchen reset throughout the day.
  • Take out trash and recycling.
  • Run errands, grocery pickups, returns, miscellaneous to-dos.
  • Make in-person or online purchases for the family as needed.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as requested, we're reasonable people.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive full-time experience with toddlers and young children.
  • Three verifiable childcare references.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — we value transparency and proactive updates.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently.
  • Up-to-date CPR certification.
  • Willing to submit to a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license (family car provided for work use).
  • Willing to travel with the family as needed.
  • Bonus: experience with multiples or caring for families during a newborn transition.

Requirements

  • Nanny must have extensive experience working full-time with infants.
  • Be able to provide three childcare references that are able to be verified.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to do self-directed work independently.
  • Must have up-to-date CPR certification.
  • Must be willing to submit to criminal background checks.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to travel with the family, as needed.

Benefits

  • $22–$26/hour, commensurate with experience (approximately 45 hours/week).
  • Compensation reviewed when twins arrive and responsibilities expand.
  • Guaranteed hours — you're paid your full weekly hours even when the family doesn't need coverage.
  • We're looking for a long-term fit, not a short-term fix.
  • We want someone who's in it for the long haul. Someone our kids will remember.
  • 2 weeks paid vacation.
  • 5 paid sick / personal days.
  • 10 paid federal holidays.
  • Family vehicle provided for work-related driving.
