Job Description

LHH is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive support to attorneys at a Chicago firm. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience supporting attorneys in a law firm setting
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Zoom, Adobe, and Dropbox
  • Experience with Perfect Law, M365 , and other key legal applications
  • E-filing experience in Federal and State courts, including Courts of Appeals
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively across multiple cases and deadlines
  • Team-oriented with a professional and positive demeanor
  • Solid understanding of legal terminology and principles ; knowledge of medical terminology a plus
  • Skilled at analyzing and reviewing legal documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Ability to work independently and manage assignments with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and proofread legal documents and correspondence from draft to final form
  • Reformat and finalize pleadings and other legal filings
  • Manage attorney scheduling and calendaring , including court deadlines and client meetings
  • Coordinate the preparation, filing, and service of pleadings and briefs
  • Manage service of process , file documents with the court, and coordinate with local counsel as needed
  • Maintain and organize electronic case files and ensure all documents are properly filed and accessible
  • Prioritize and manage multiple cases and projects to meet deadlines efficiently
  • Dictation using Speakeasy

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $60,000 – $85,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
