Position: Music Expert

Type: Contract

Compensation: $67$75/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 20 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Author review and annotate technical tasks to evaluate AI model performance on music and musicology problems.
• Produce original problem sets grounded in scores harmonic analyses and spectrograms.
• Write reference solutions and apply structured quality checks.
• Provide clear structured feedback to improve AI training data quality and downstream performance.
• Work independently and asynchronously with a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• DMA or PhD in Music or Musicology or MM with 3 years teaching performance or research experience or BM or BA in Music with 5 years teaching performance or composition experience.
• Working fluency in at least two of: theory history/musicology performance practice composition ethnomusicology.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting scores harmonic analyses and spectrograms.
• Clear technical writing; able to articulate reasoning step-by-step in written form.
