Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacist I – Contract

Position Summary:

The Pharmacist I serves patients by preparing and dispensing medications, providing pharmacological information to the healthcare team, and monitoring patient drug therapies. This role requires flexibility to float across multiple units and competency in chemotherapy preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently dispense medications according to physician orders.
  • Provide dosing and therapeutic recommendations based on patient age, pharmacokinetics, and current literature.
  • Resolve questions regarding formulary and non-formulary medications, following policies and procedures.
  • Perform patient education, including dosage instructions, timing, potential side effects, and interactions with other medications.
  • Prepare chemotherapy medications following all safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Float to various units as needed, including:
  • Critical Care
  • Pediatrics
  • Oncology
  • Transplant
  • Medicine
  • Cardiac

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy (ACPE).
  • 1–2 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, dosage calculations, and patient safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to multiple clinical environments.

Additional Skills Required:

  • Chemotherapy preparation (Chemo Prep)
  • Floating across multiple units (Critical Care, Pediatrics, Oncology, Transplant, Medicine, Cardiac)

Schedule Options:

  • Option 1: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week (40 hours/week)
  • Option 2: 10 hours/day, 4 days/week (40 hours/week)
