Long Island based commercial contractor seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant for full-time employment to join our accounting department and be involved with various payroll and accounting related tasks. This is an excellent long-term growth opportunity to join our growing company.
Immediate areas of emphasis:
- Work together with our Payroll Manager and assist with all payroll and HR related functions. You will be required to learn the details of our current payroll processes, with the overall goal of becoming capable to step in and handle the full weekly payroll in the absence of our payroll manager. Additional items include assisting with the completion and tracking of certified payroll reports, employee PTO tracking, new employee onboarding, maintain employee files electronically, remote timeclock / timesheet software troubleshooting as needed, and other miscellaneous HR & Payroll related items. Prior experience with union construction payroll required.
- Work together with our Accounting Contract & Billing manager and assist with all areas of job specific accounting administration tasks. Including setup of schedule of values, preparation of client billings, accounts receivable, cash receipts posting, customer statement administration and collections. Prior experience with AIA Construction billing required.
- Assist with Accounts Payable functions including: Matching invoices with PO’s, entering and posting job and overhead invoices within Sage 300, reconciling credit card activity, check runs, scanning and electronic filing of paid bills.
- Other accounting tasks as required.
Must be tech savvy and a multi-tasker. Prior experience with Sage 300 Construction, MJob payroll time tracking software, Foundation Software (Payroll4Construction) a strong plus. Accounting degree and minimum 3 years accounting experience in a Union Construction environment preferred.
