Job Description

LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated Human Resources Generalist – Human Resources Department of One to join their team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a true HR generalist who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and meaningful engagement with employees across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who has supported a small to mid‑sized company, is comfortable operating as an HR department of one, and brings a calm, confident, and people‑centered approach to human resources.

The Human Resources Generalist will manage the full lifecycle of HR operations, partnering closely with leadership while remaining deeply involved in day‑to‑day execution. This individual will be trusted with highly confidential information and play a critical role in supporting employees, ensuring compliance, and maintaining strong HR fundamentals across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Operations & Compliance:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR matters, providing hands‑on support across the organization.
  • Maintain and administer HR policies, procedures, and employee documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and best practices.
  • Handle sensitive employee relations matters with discretion, professionalism, and emotional maturity.
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Partner with leadership on employee terminations, investigations, and conflict resolution.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

  • Manage full‑cycle recruiting for exempt and non‑exempt roles.
  • Oversee job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offer preparation, and onboarding.
  • Manage relationships with external recruiting agencies.
  • Lead and continuously improve a structured onboarding experience, including 30‑60‑90-day check‑ins.

Payroll, Benefits & HRIS:

  • Administer payroll for salaried employees using an HRIS platform (Paylocity preferred).
  • Partner with internal and external resources to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including open enrollment, with broker support.
  • Administer the company’s 401(k) plan and related reporting.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and employee data with strict attention to confidentiality.

Employee Engagement & Culture:

  • Build strong relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Act as a trusted, approachable HR presence who supports engagement and positive workplace culture.
  • Provide guidance and support on workplace concerns, questions, and development needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
  • Experience supporting a small to mid‑sized organization with broad, hands‑on HR responsibilities.
  • Comfort operating independently as the sole HR professional.
  • Strong foundation across recruiting, employee relations, benefits, payroll, onboarding, and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of state and federal employment law.
  • Prior experience in construction or real estate environments preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas and VLOOKUPs.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Paylocity preferred).
  • High level of technical aptitude and ability to learn systems quickly.
  • Exceptionally detail‑oriented and highly organized.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong communicator who handles conflict thoughtfully and professionally.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $110,000 + 10% Bonus
