Join our dynamic team as a Technician and become a vital contributor to maintaining and enhancing our operational excellence! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of equipment and systems. Position Summary

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Powersports Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of powersports vehicles in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. The Technician works closely with the Service Manager, Parts Department, and Service staff to ensure timely, accurate repairs while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostics & Repair

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and performance issues across a variety of powersports units (ATVs, side-by-sides, snowmobiles, motorcycles, etc.).
  • Perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with OEM specifications and dealership standards.
  • Accurately identify root causes and complete repairs efficiently to maximize billed hours.
  • Stay current on evolving technologies, systems, and manufacturer updates.

2. Productivity & Efficiency (Flat Rate Performance)

  • Complete work orders within standard labor times while maintaining quality.
  • Maximize billed hours through effective time management and workflow efficiency.
  • Minimize comebacks and rework by ensuring accuracy on the first repair.
  • Maintain consistent productivity levels aligned with departmental goals.

3. Service Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with Service Advisors to clarify repair needs and communicate findings.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure accurate parts identification and timely availability.
  • Provide clear notes and documentation on work orders for transparency and billing accuracy.
  • Support overall service flow to reduce bottlenecks and downtime.

4. Quality & Safety Standards

  • Ensure all work meets dealership quality standards and OEM requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and guidelines at all times.
  • Perform thorough inspections and testing before completing jobs.
  • Maintain a high level of accountability for workmanship and final output.

5. Tools, Equipment & Workspace

  • Maintain personal tools required for the role (specialty tools may be provided as applicable).
  • Use shop equipment properly and report any issues or maintenance needs.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and efficient to support productivity.
  • Contribute to overall shop organization and safety.

6. Documentation & Systems

  • Accurately complete repair orders, including labor times, notes, and parts usage.
  • Utilize dealership management systems (DMS) for tracking work and billing.
  • Ensure all required documentation is complete and submitted in a timely manner.

7. Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in manufacturer training and certification programs as required.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and product knowledge.
  • Contribute ideas to improve shop efficiency, processes, and service quality.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of powersports, automotive, or small engine repair experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working in a flat rate or performance-based environment is preferred.
  • OEM certifications (BRP, Honda, Polaris, etc.) are an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
